As Family Forum Uganda enters its 7th year since inception, we find that Families are increasingly in need of support than ever before in order to cope with the Social economic changes, increasingly powerful multi-cultural activities, diminishing extended family support systems etc. Yet these changes have also left families and family members isolated, under increasing stress, and less able to provide support to each other.
A Plan of Action has been drawn which will guide Family Forum Uganda in the next 5 years responding to the pertaining issues. The plan results from a participatory process involving many stakeholders relevant to the work of the organization. In consideration of all views, collective judgment and decisions have been taken into taken into consideration in the Action Plan. Priorities that are no longer justified by external need or internal capacity were abandoned and other, more salient ones adopted. We hope all members and other allies will endorse our sharpened focus. It defines the organization’s best path forward.
Safeguarding children through supporting families most especially struggling parents holistically are our highest priorities. These will be supported by our long-standing emphasis on taking actions that are informed by disciplined learning and the dissemination of the knowledge gained to all concerned through convening, publications and electronic communications.
In spite of all the unprecedented challenges and shortcomings that we have so far encountered, I am however greatly energized by the dedicated volunteers and I am most positive that the planning we have done will help us strike the right balance between the familiar and with the new challenges families face. The Plan creates a solid and stimulating platform upon which to proceed.
I would like to reiterate my gratitude for the love and support that everybody has given us in this struggle and encourage you once again to keep up the good fight.
Thank you.
